1) Parts of a paragraph:
A) Topic sentence:
- It states what you are writing about, what your subject is.
- In order to write an effective topic sentence, you have to come up with an interesting topic and give your opinion on it.
B) Body- Order of importance, or chronology:
- It is the heart of the paragraph.
- It is where you get all the supporting details and the supportive arguments for the topic sentence.
- Two ways in which you can order the details:
. Order of importance: What you feel is going to make your arguments really stand out.
. Chronology: The ordering of events.
C) Closing sentence:
- It has to functions:
. To remind the audience what you are writing about, to restore the topic sentence.
. To keep readers thinking once they finish reading, giving them an extra.
